Hi Csarina . I have had a Russell Hobbs slipstream for seven or eight years . It isn't one of the really massive ones but I have lots of cotton and lien clothes , all my bedding and curtains are pure cotton and it irons them perfectly . I have RA and Fibro and I find it easy to handle - although i do take a tea break every now and then as standing too long is not a good idea . I don't know if there still available . Mine was a half price ar**s offer .
Sorry that should say linen !

My mother bought one of those steam generators, but as far as I can tell it sits in the box all the time while she uses a regular hand held steam iron. The steam generator is a big, awkward thing to get out, set up and pack away in comparison to a regular iron. There have been other issues with it blocking up inside rapidly with scale, but that may be model specific. Anyway, I've tried and I think if you just want to quickly iron stuff, the regular iron seems easier and quicker to me. I'm sure they have their fans, but they don't suit everyone.0

Call the customer services office of your original iron brand and complain, explain that 3 years is an unreasonably short time for your iron to break. Ask them if they will offer you a discount on the next one if you buy directly from them. They might have the steam generator you want, and you would get it at a discount. I know that my iron company a few years ago offered 40% discount. In the end as I was still under guarantee they sent me a new iron free of charge, after establishing that mine was unreparable. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0

I have managed to find an iron that works from my Polti Vaporesso, half the price of the last expensive iron I bought. I emailed them to make sure it was compatible, and it is.......thanks for your help.
I do not just iron clothes, but also use it to press my quilting blocks etc, that was the reason I bought the Tefal iron.0 -
Thanks for that Csarina . I have the vaporetto eco , I'll bear the iron attachment in mind if I need a replacement in the future . It will be interesting to hear what you feel once you start using it .
