Olaplex - anyone used?

Hiya,

I'm thinking of having an olaplex treatment on my very chemically damaged hair - it's not MSE really it's actually quite expensive. So before going ahead just wanted to see if anyone had used this and thought it was worth the money? The reviews online do seem good but I don't know of anyone to ask personally?

thanks

I had one last week whilst my hair was being dyed - it's fine to do this according to the hairdresser.

I did mine as I had extensions in and had them taken out and just wanted to give my hair a treat.

I also dye my hair regularly, although not bleached

Can I notice a difference? Not really as my hair wasn't in bad condition to begin with.

Would I have one again? No unless my hair was really in bad condition and looked rubbish.

A girl at work also had one done about a month ago, she said that afterwards she couldn't do anything with her hair - again, to me it wasn't in that bad a condition - but she maybe felt like it was.

I haven't had that problem but I am not really doing much with my hair at the moment just to give it a rest.

How much have you had quoted for it?

I paid £30 for this treatment plus colouring (but it was a trainee who coloured so only a minor fee for the dye)

I think my salon charges £25 for Olaplex.

There are good conditioners out there, I am next going to try hair n mane which is horse shampoo as it's been given good reviews and you can buy it from Amazon!

It doesn't matter that it's not MSE if you can afford it and you want a treat, if you're scrimping and living month to month then it's probably not worth paying out for it.

    I've been Money Tipped!
    Thanks for reply.

It's £50 on it's own (less if mixed with dye but I'm not having it dyed!).

My hairs quite long and could do with a good few inches off to repair the damage - initially hairdresser seemed to think that with olaplex I would need 2 inches off (it'd need 3/4 without) but before end of appointment she said I'd need 3/4 inches with olaplex.

I can't really see the benefit if I'm having all the dead cut off regardless? I think that if she takes more off it's not a trim it's a restyle so she can charge more for it - does that make sense?

We are currently trying to pay off CC debt so it's not totally unaffordable but if it won't make a huge difference I would rather put the £50 towards the CC!

i asked about olaplex whilst at hairdressers the other week, £25 for the stand alone treatment plus £32 for 100ml bottle of treatment to use at home afterwards for a few weeks.

i dye my hair regularly, it's below shoulder length & crying out for moisture past mid lengths to stop it going frizzy. i decided on this instead for the moment as special offer at boots & i already love the conditioner from this range.

Blimey - that is expensive! I wouldn't have had it done had it been that much.

My hairdresser said nothing about treatment for a few weeks after.

There are other treatments around which are sold either online or in Boots - try them first, but if your hair needs a trim then have that done first

I've heard mixed reviews, some that rave about it, some that say it's just a decent treatment. I can't see how it would save hair that would otherwise need to be cut off. Personally I'd save my money and invest in a decent regular routine. I use Kerastase which is not cheap but lasts a lifetime.
  • I had this treatment 3 weeks ago - cost £25 as part of a cut and colour. I can't say it made any huge immediate difference to the look or feel of my shoulder length, fine, dry hair. I bought the follow on stuff to use at home ( shipped from Amazon where it was cheaper) and have used it weekly since. I think my hair is a little better now but not totally convinced that it lives up to all the hype it gets in the press. But having said that - I think I will probably get it done once more to see if it improves my hair the more it is used. If not I won't bother again after that.
