if you read the rules of the forum (that you agreed to when you joined) you would know that the rule states "if someone's persistently causing trouble, they're PPR'd. If they are, please don't talk about them on the forum. It's unfair to do this when they aren't able to respond"

Thank you for the reminder Redfox.

Although can I please add my take on the situation not directly towards the PPR issue but the post that you have now deleted where you in your defence wrote you found another posters comment offensive.....I cant requote the post but I am sure you know the one I reference!
thats what we face on a regular basis from a few posters to the thread...snide comments that could be taken as petty, but quite often do cause real offence to those they are directed to....
Last night for example I read a comment by the same poster who suggested that when someone sobered up they would return to being something else.....not in itself a bannable comment but when you take into account who that comment was levelled against it suddenly becomes offensive....there are numerous other jibes made daily and with strong intent to have double meaning

you are in the privileged position to be able to delete comments that you feel overstep the mark and quite rightly so...but it does feel that the line that has been issued by MSE megan is that we should use the ignore button more frequently or perhaps gloss over these comments as they are "small stuff" in the scheme of things and we are adults.....

I'm sorry but it does seem as if there are 2 different takes on this at the moment and as such should we still be reporting posts that are borderline offensive or just ignoring them....
I think you have every right to delete what you find offensive but in turn I also think that others also have the right to raise objection if called for to obtain the same fair outcome.

These are my observations....and as such I hope I am allowed the opportunity to raise my view....but moving forward I would also hope that before others post some of their content they really do consider if what they are posting could be seen as double meaning or offensive to others....it might seem a throwaway remark...but to some that remark is very unwelcome.

So sorry to hear this...
I read it through a few times and think that perhaps you might have had some reservations about the place/boss already.
If you have no tie there I would at least start looking around, it depends on your financial situatuion as well so don't jump out of the pan so to speak..
keep us posted as we are all here for you and hope we can give you support xxxxxxxxxx

Thanks I knew he was a bit of a law to himself when i started but its not a problem to me I just do the books. I am not obliged to stay so am going to start looking next week. I am considering retiring if the government brings in the idea that women of 62 could retire early on a slightly reduced pension as I also have a new grandchild and another due soon and would like more time with them. However if I retire I know my family will expect me to deal with Mum all the time which was one of the reasons I took the job in the first place

Rose, please think of what's best for you, not everyone else.
I work three short days but still have time for the grandchildren, although I think that sometimes their parents go off and do their thing so I often find myself on here or just mooching about....
I am also thinking of doing something but have a lot of pension options at the mo so don't want to make any hasty decisions.
Keep posting as, like others, I do care xxx

I do not delete the type of posts you mention, they must be reported to the FT - as it says in my signature "If you spot an illegal or inappropriate post then please report it to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com (it's not part of my role to deal with this)

Redfox...I don't pretend to know how the system works...but a poster made a comment about you and I saw the reply you made...both posts have since been deleted...whether that be by yourself or by the forum team after the use of the report button,I have no idea.....but I guess you clearly had an objection about a comment levelled at you....

Thats what many posters face on a regular basis...and my wonder is whether you should have perhaps just ignored the comment or put the poster on ignore...both solutions have been suggested from up the line recently rather than reporting them.

Edited to add..I'm not out to antagonise but it does seem that you are able to get something deleted quickly maybe because of your position as a mod....where others are not.
I am also aware that its not part of your position or role to deal with this...but on the flipside neither should any poster on this site be open to any form of abusive comment whether its made in jest or not.

If I was you I think I would take time to consider your options dont do anything rash - you sound to have a great job hours to suit etc. Your boss has wrongly insulted you but prob out of anger of the crap he was getting of the girlfriends Solicitor. He def owes you an apology

I would also carry on as you are doing and do just your job and take messages and let him deal with all the calls He will soon realise what an asset you are

Please continue to report these kinds of posts, that's not what I meant when I said I don't want to see this stuff coming from this thread anymore. I meant that I don't want the people doing it to carry on!

While some posts seem innocuous, we do look at context and can see when people are provoking others without breaking rules in an obvious way. It's not rocket science ;)
