You course provider would surely have provided you with the information you require based on the course syllabus - if they haven't or you are having difficulty with the legal aspect of health and safety, then you are leaving it a little late.
You will need to provide answers not in 'laymans terms', but in the actual requirements of the questions. For example, the question may ask you to 'define' a specific aspect of a subject and the more meat you can put on the bones for your answers, the more points you will achieve.
That said, read the requirements of the questions very carefully as they may just ask you to 'list' some elements of a subject and many candidates waste time in the exam going into too much detail when only a list is required.
I did my NEBOSH some years ago and what I found invaluable was the availability of examiners reports from previous exams. They provided actual test questions with the required answers the examiners were looking for and the pitfalls of each question.
IIRC, you could purchase these directly from NEBOSH in Leicester, however, I do not know if these papers are still available, but if they are, I really believe they will be of great assistance to you.
Edit to add: Yes, they are still available - and free....look for the pdf files down the side of the web page.

In addition to DD's comments, I would put some focus on time management as these two hours will disappear before you realise it.
Read the question and read it again, then answer what your asked!Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0 -
I'm sound where I'm up to with my revision. Just trying to find as many different channels for the information as possible.
The more different types I read the better. I always find just focusing on a text book does sink it in with me.
I have only been on the course for 3 weeks.
Week 1 NGC1
Week 2 off (Revision) & Back in work
Week 3 NGC2
Week 4 off (Revision) & Back in work
Week 5 Revision days plus exam0 -

Revising is obviously very important and digesting text from manuals is a vital part of the revision process, but I remember after our group completed the exam, many were caught out by the requirement for diagrams.
Now believe me, I am useless at drawing, but one of the questions really stuffed a few of the candidates and it was the requirement to draw a 'popmar' flowchart of the HSG 65 model of safety management which the HSE has now moved away from, but I would certainly consider looking at the PDCA (plan, do, check, act,) cycle diagram which will possibly feature in the exam.
You may find the course intense (partiularly the management elements of H&S which will include legal elements) but it seems you have taken the block course which I found allows the details to stay fresh in the memory before your exams.0 -
Yes the course was intense and to be honest very enjoyable.
In my head for NGC1 is
HASAWA
Management Regs
PDCA is core to everything I do on a daily basis
What I need to drill in is
The Law (civil & common)
CMD
For the above 2 I'm finding it difficult0 -
I must admit that the CDM regs were (and still are) my weak point - not helped by the HSE meddling with them, and they are still confusing (to me anyway).
I didn't have too much difficulty with the legal side and if I recall correctly, my exam only had one question on the legal aspect which related to defining a Tort.
If you have seen some of the past exam questions, they will give some insight into what may crop up - indeed, unless it has changed, the same questions appear in the exams on a fairly frequent basis.
Something that ohreally mentioned and is true - those two hours allocated for each test paper will pass very quickly.0 -
Luckily enough I have revision days booked in that does just that.
I have been told that you learn so much at these.0
