    Hi thanks for your superfast reply. Sorry for being a bit daft but what should I look for on my payslip?

    Whether the pension contribution is subtracted from the gross pay before the tax, but not the NI is calculated.

    The payslip often does not make this obvious. If the gross pay less the pension contribution less the tax and the NI is equal to the net pay you are getting the tax relief from your pay, there is no more to get.
