Can I hoover out my washing machine?

I know it probably sounds bonkers. I washed the pet bedding which ended up being a LOT fluffier than I thought. Washing machine is now full of fluff

I've tried a hot wash, washing machine cleaner etc but still fluff everywhere. I'm wondering if I can hoover it out? Or is that just crazy?

I've defo hoovered fluff out of the dryer, but never the washer.

Doesn't sound crazy to me, but the only issue might be if some water got into the workings of the vacuum. TBH I can't see how it would though. I would use my vax wet/dry machine just in case if I were doing it, or the hetty which seems to be pretty bomb proof.

Up to you really, but definately dosen't sound crazy to me

Silly question - have you cleaned out the filter?

I can't see hoovering the drum would do any harm, but I can also see it'd be a bit tricky.

Maybe a lint roller/sellotape would be easier?
That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.

go for it.. just do it quickly and be careful not to get too much water in the vacuum.. and dry it out before reusing.

If you blow up the vacuum you can buy a new one ;)

I've used my Henry to vacuum mine and he survived

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who has had to do this! Filter is clean newshadow, just the inside of the drum. Will give it a quick once over and politely ask the hoover not to die

I've done it when accidentally washing a disposable nappy.. and when washing a pillow which popped.. and tissues and bits of soggy paper... its all gross.

pop a rubber glove on next time and wipe around inside the drum - all the fluff with stick to the glove :)

Rubber gloves! of course, that's excellent for fluff on the carpet, I never thought!

Happy to report it is now fluff free, but I used the dust-buster instead of the dyson as OH only bought that about 2 weeks ago. Dead dyson may have resulted in dead me :-D

I often whip the hoover around, but only once I know it's dry. There's only two of us so we don't do masses of washing, so I leave it a day or so then hoover out.

Would well recommend you buy a pet wash bag though - I have two heavy shedding breeds and these are essential in my house!

Thank you, you have just given me an idea at exactly the right time.

Think I will have a go at making one, as I have an excess of curtain netting material. Either will use velcro rather than a zip, or maybe thread a length of cord through....obviously this is just in my head at the moment, but will need to get on with it asap. Possibly the cord idea will be the quickest for now, and will see how it goes.
Just taken on the job of fostering a Cyprus poodle involved in a car accident, and want to launder the small fleece blankets I've been using over cushions, which have been serving as a bed at the moment. Poor wee thing has suffered a broken hip and foreleg.
