Divorcing and need a little info on mortgages?

Hi i am in the middle of divorce proceedings with my wife and need some help regarding applying for a mortgage.
I am 41 and earn around 75K a year, no credit card debt, no bad history and will have approx 90K for a deposit. I have been on the various banks websites and after i factor in child maintenance they roughly say borrow anything from around 220K to 280K. I will be looking to spend around 250K max on a home when i get round to it.
Due to having a joint account with my stbx i have now restarted my wages going into my old current account and started to use that so hopefully i will have some evidence for the mortgage people to see how my finances are.
Do you think i will be ok as i have been reading up on the new mortgage articles and they seem to be a lot stricter than a few years ago?
Is there anything else i can be doing to improve my chances of being approved?

Build up your savings if possible.
Close any bank/credit cards/links to Ex wife and check your Credit file.
Keep statements from new bank account ( they normally ask for last 3 months.
Be careful how much you spend each month until you have bought the property.
NO spending until you have the keys0
