Keep getting rejected from Tesco and other supermarkets

Hi,
I've been job searching for 2 years now I finished college and I've been looking for jobs ever since. At the moment, I am applying for Retail jobs as they don’t require experience. I live in Sheffield and I have tried the surrounding areas and I am still not managing to get called back for interviews. I keep on failing online tests for Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Asda I really don’t know where I’m going wrong.

There is quite a long thread on this issue a couple of pages down the forum: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3447827
Seems like quite a common issue. I can only assume as these jobs generally require little experience and have relatively good terms the competition for them is quite high.0 -
How about joining all of your local agencies? Try admin? Retail is clearly not working at the moment and tbh, do you REALLY want to work in retail?0

Call centres surely must be a viable option?
Also, try your local filling stations and corner supermarkets. Some experience there might be a step in the right direction.0 -
Just take any job in retail, no matter where.
If you can't get anything paid, go for a charity shop.
Just to put down 6 months "customer facing" experience will be invaluable - sounds much better than 2 years sat on your posterior, which is how your current position will sound to a recruiter.0 -

My son was in a similar boat at one point while at Uni.
We encouraged him to get a part time job in a filling station.
He did that a year and got into a call centre part time, based on his one years "customer service" experience. Happened to get on to the Passport Office contract they had there, which gave him compliance experience.
Because he had compliance experience, when he finished Uni he applied for Santander and got in to their head office site. Working towards his first promotion now.
His mates who sat on their plums while at uni didnt get work when they finished, funnily enough0
