Divorce & Public Pensions

My mother is in the process of getting divorced. Both my mother and father have completed their form E for thier solicitors....Now the negotiations!
My father already receives a LGPS pension (he is in his late 50's)
When he is 60 he will receive another pension (civil service)
My question:
What are the rules with regards to the split. Are they 50/50? (public pensions) It looks like she'll go for a pesion sharing order.
We are going to seek further advice but just wondered if anyone knew. We thought it is an automatic 50/50, but some people say not always - it depends on the pesion company.????
Many Thanks.
