Thoughts on boosting income idea - CV service/interview advice

Options
Hi all,

Just been trying to brainstorm a few ideas on how I can earn a bit more money from home. Got a wedding to pay for!

I was hoping for a bit of market research from you lovely people.

I have many years experience in the welfare to work/recruitment/employability industries. I've worked along some big employers such as Stagecoach/Waitrose/Morrisons etc so have a fair bit of knowledge when it comes to writing CVs and interview advice/prep.

I know there is plenty of free advice out there as well as very expensive options, but I was wondering if you would pay for a service that reviewed/edited your CV, as well as a package of interview advice and tips. Bearing in mind my hands of knowledge of what employers are looking for etc?

I was thinking about a fee of £10 - £20 or so and my target market would be young adults/less experienced people. The cheapest I've seen is £25.

Any thoughts?

Cheers

It's an idea, but I think the major obstacle would be how would you stand out for these customers (a lot of these being students)? I suppose your intention is to charge less than what is out there, but the issue is there are likely too types of people that would want to improve their CV:

    1. They care very much about their CV and will pay to get the best reviews - you might struggle to attract those before you build yourself a reputation for being good at it

    2. They care, but they aren't willing to spend. In this case, they will probably go for the free CV checker options (uni fairs, job fairs etc).

This is of course my view, it could well be a different climate out there. Personally I've never used CV services as I preferred to ask friends who had experience. Nevertheless, good luck on your business plans.
