Unusual surname...

Options
I have 2 questions, both a bit random but related to the title of the thread...

1. Basically, I have a quite an unusual surname and when googling myself (don't ask why) on the first page of Google I saw my name and county with a win alongside 20 other names. This was at the very start of February and I havent yet recieved a WEM or a prize. Should I email the company to enquire about this? I didn't want to pester the company but was wondering how long I should wait. From previous googling of my name (don't ask why) I know there aren't any other people with my forename and surname so it is definitely me.

2. I did a stint of comping a few years ago but used my maiden surname with no success - yet entering the same amount, if not more and same types of comps. Using my married 'unusual' surname I seem to be having better than expected success. A bit random and probably coincidental, but I can't help but thinking it is helping me out. If nothing else, perhaps my lucky charm.

Any thoughts?

To question 1 - no harm in contacting the company! If you haven't had a WEM it may be one of those where the prize just turns up, and they are taking their time sending it out?
To question 2 - I'm in the same boat as you, have a very rare surname and an unusual spelling of first name so I'm 99.9% sure my name is unique. However I don't think it's been a lucky charm or anything like that - I sincerely hope that prize allocation is random, fair, and nothing to do with having a certain name!

Thanks cagsd for your reply to both questions.

    1. I'll wait a week or two and email them.
    2. I'm sure you are right - I kind of want to test my theory by reverting back to my maiden name for comping but I don't want to stop my winning streak (Yes, I know I'm probably being a bit superstitious). I should just enjoy it whilst it lasts :)

to question 1 - i'd contact them now rather than wait a few weeks if you are sure you definitely entered the comp in question. Some comps rely on you to contact them about wins and just post the names, or there could have been a typo in your submission so their wem to you never came through, either way i'd contact to avoid any chance of missing out.

It wouldn't be pestering to say 'i spotted this on your website and just wanted to check there wasn't anything you needed me to do.'

Thanks for your advice jamielmdjs, I didn't even think that perhaps a WEM had been sent but I hadn't received it. There's nothing to loose by sending a polite email and it has been a month now since I accidentally saw my name on web. I'll give it a go :)
