The shock comes from being in active correspondence with TPS just 9 months ago and their never having told me about registering on their site or filling in this specific form which should have been done months ago.

If you expect a bureaucracy to take intelligent initiatives, you're too optimistic for this wicked world.

Surely it's more that Capita (= the current outsourced administrator for the TPS in England and Wales) will only do what they are contracted (and therefore paid) to do...

I wish they still looked after the CS pension rather than MyCSP

He also had an AVC with the Pru, same specified retirement date but has heard absolutely nothing from them save the annual statements. He will be ringing them up this week (at my instigation) to check his options.

    Has he seen the above?

Thanks, have passed link to him. Would be nice if their phone contact hours were a bit longer!

Awkward statement to make on a teachers thread?

An intelligent initiative to print at the bottom of all projections for their pensions "Be sure to start the process of claiming your pension three months early" would cost precious little, and might well save them money in having to deal with phone calls, emails, and letters on the same issue. As I say, bureaucracies tend not to do intelligent initiative. It's the nature of the beast.

He's not a teacher any more. Still works in school but longer hours - no privacy for phone calls in the day and not usually home in time to make calls before they close.
Have to wait for easter holidays I suspect.
