Tesco Free Eye Test

Hi all,
I've been using contact lenses for the past few years, religiously buying them from my optician every 3 months with the solution - for overly inflated prices.
Fed up of this arrangement, last year I found a site on the internet offering a great deal, buying a 12 month supply of lenses in bulk offering savings of around £70 over the 12 months. I've had some great bargains with the solution on ebay as well, all in all saving around £100 over the year.
However my stash is slowly dwindling & I'm down to my last 2 months of lenses. Before I order another 12 month I'd like to have my peepers tested, to make sure I'm ordering the correct ones.
I've read Tesco offer a free eye test, I'm thinking about making an appointment but will they pressure me into buying?
On the side of my contact lenses box it says BC DIA PWR CYL AX (I'm assuming this my prescription?). I entered these numbers into the site I bought the lenses from, & all I want is to make sure these numbers are still the same before I order more.
Thanks in advance, any advice appreciated.

I think the free eye test offer only applies to a standard eye exam. The exam/test for contact lenses takes longer and costs £15.

And having followed the links above, I found that my local Tesco doesn't offer contact lens appointments at all.0 -
Yeah I noticed this when I tried to book online earlier, I think mine does as I get offered these three options.
Sight Test (No Charge, Exclusions Apply)
Contact Lens Initial Appointment
Contact Lens Follow Up Appointment
I think I'd be treated as an inital appointment, as I've not had my lenses fitted by them. For £15 I don't think I'll get much cheaper than that.0 -
I went to specsavers a fewmonths ago & told them I wanted to try contacts, I only wear them on nights out so like you I only needed a prescription to get this done. They tested my eyes for free & even gave me a few pairs as a trial without any pressure as they also do a free contact lense trial. Now I have the prescription & can also order online.0

I did visit Tesco but when I explained the situation, she said she needed my prescription as I already wear lenses. I didn't know this, I never paid any attention to prescriptions, my optician just gave me lenses & I was never really aware of all this.
Tesco tried to contact my optition while I was in store, but the line was constantly engaged, they said all I could do was have a basic eye test & come back with my prescription before I could have contact lens test.
I wasn't really impressed with their service tbh, I had to wait 40 mins after my allocated appointment slot, & they were not very welcoming.
I've made an appointment now to go back to my current optician, they've always been very good, only issue was the prices, though might be bit awkward this time when I tell them I don't wish to purchase any lenses lol.
I'll make sure I get my prescription this time when I'm there, & I'll know all this now for future reference. But the savings I'm making buying bulk on line & being delivered to the door make it all worth while.0 -
My daughter started out with a contact lens trial and test at Vision Express which was a total fail in terms of the lenses, she didn't get to grips with it at all and really struggled.
She then saw a local independent optician who was amazing at getting her into wearing and using them but were way too expensive to use long term.
She settled with Specsavers their test was fine and the lenses affordable, she altered her order after a bit, she was good at cleaning her lenses but still ended up with way too many bottles of solution. Seven years in she seems happy with them and still has her lenses from them and the eye/contact lens checks as well.
I'm sure there are cheaper or better but it seems to suit her, the lenses are posted to her and she gets reminders about eye checks and so on.0
