Reducing Uk Mortgage On Mediteranean Property Sale

Hello - I am thinking of selling a mediteranean property and using some of the profit to pay half of my UK mortgage off. Are their any tax implications or anything I should be aware of in transferring the money to the UK and paying off a large lump sum. Any advice on this would be greatly received.
