I am interested in trying these, either in the tablet or the capsule form and wondered if anyone on here has experience of using it?

I just wanted to get a bit of feedback if possible before spending £20!
Thanks

I would think it's like cranberry juice, - some find it helps, some don't.left the forum due to trolling/other nonsense

I don't know about that brand, but I use the now foods brand (
Now Foods, D-Mannose, 500 mg, 120 Capsules). I order it from the USA. If you need a referral for the site, drop me a PM.0 -
Assuming you want this for cystitis.
Yes it works well if the infection is caused by e-coli. You have to be really careful when wiping after visiting the toilet not to get any faeces around the vaginal area. E-coli lives harmlessly in the bowel but can cause infection in the bladder.0 -
Thankyou
I have ordered the tablets. Yes it's for UTIs which I always seem to get when I'm run down. Antibiotics make me feel so ill I decided to try this product if/when the dreaded water infection strikes again.0 -
Again as someone who has suffered with this on and off for years some other things to try.
Make sure you drink plenty of water especially after drinking coffee or alcohol. Dehydration can cause it.
Rinse feminine area thoroughly as soap and shower gels can irritate
insist on your partner washing himself and again rinsing thoroughly before sex
I believe if you follow this you may be lucky and avoid further infection.
Good luck0 -
My elderly mother suffered recurring bouts of cystitis for about two years - constant visits to the docs for ABs which ultimately made her feel awful.
Early last spring she got a really bad bout and tried to see it out with water, it became so bad, so quickly that she got very ill. High fever rigors set in and she became quite confused. Luckily I was there for the weekend and so called out the emergency doctor - a lovely chap. Her temp for almost 40 degrees at this point.
He told us that his wife suffered the same and recommended the D-Mannose powder as his wife takes it now. He explained that the powder mixed with water binds to the bacteria in the bladder allowing it to be flushed out.
Since then she take a prophylactic dose every morning and only tops up if she feels any twinges - and hasn't had an infection since. I order it from Amazon. It's pricey but so worth it to see my mum free of this awful condition.0 -
I hope she stays free of it Gers, it's quite an unpleasant niggly sort of pain and it can affect elderly people much worse.
This webpage contains some useful information (though obviously exercise caution when reading anything medical on the internet!)

From what I understand, D mannose works by flushing the offending bacteria out of the system, whereas antibiotics work by killing off the bacteria. The former has far fewer side effects.0
