Need advice , llyods have closed my account

Dear All,
I just received a letter from llyods stating they are unable to maintain a banking relation and will terminate the account in 60 days. After reading other threads I am really worried, and I know they have been similar ones so I apologise.
I have had a high turnover recently due to using William hill,
I have never breached my overdraft limits and in no terms comitted any fraud.
I am not entirely bothered that they are closing my account but I'm frightened if they stick something on my credit file?
Will it make it harder for me to obtain credit in future?
Or the fact they have given me notice means that it is a best of a bad situation??
Any help will do, thanks

As you say there are lots of advice on here about similar situations. It may be that you have breached their terms and conditions for the account. Have you contacted them? Suggest you need to establish whether they have placed a CIFAS marker on your credit file. This will have an impact potentially for other lenders. Must posts on here have suggested you can't get anywhere without complaining but do try and establish the position asap. Also do you have any other banking facilities part of the LBG that is Halifax, Bank of Scotland and Lloyds? These potentially could be affected. This seems to be a recent trend by Lloyds.0

I think my thread here is probably the most recent one relevant to Lloyds closures with 60 days notice (title only references BOS and Halifax but it was only a couple of days after I made opening post that I received letter saying Lloyds were closing my accounts too):

Well I'm gobsmacked - I've just received the same letter and I haven't even got an account with them (they closed them all last year!).
I've been declined for a savings account elsewhere today so I'm checking CIFAS pronto.
This bank really is the biggest b*****d of them all.0 -

Was it the standard closure letter from Lloyds account closure unit like my one? I've not applied for any accounts since had my letters but am due to open another monthly saver with another bank in a couple of weeks once my current one finishes so that'll be my first 'test' albeit they assured me no CIFAS etc had been put against my name (though not going to take their word for it).
Then again, maybe I'm better off opening one as a test with another bank I have nothing with first as if get declined due to CIFAS for my monthly saver then it would presumably also initiate closure of all other accounts with said bank.0 -

Yes Account Closure Unit - although there's no accounts to close!0 -

Sounds like an error then where they've not properly recorded on their systems that all your accounts were previously closed. Makes me think worthwhile doing the complaint against my closures then just in case an error too though very much doubt it.
As an aside, any idea how long a bank would retain all your data after closing all your accounts?0 -

Have you successfully applied for savings / current accounts since your LBG accounts were closed last year? Bit of a coincidence that at same time as this erroneous letter you also had the savings deckine so maybe they have mistakenly put a CIFAS on your file too.0 -
Hi guys , thanks for all your responses, tg99 it was exactly the same letter, I have other bank accounts with Hsbc nationwide and Santander, so losing this one is not going to bother me,
I am just concerned about these guys just putting on a cifas for no reason,
Did you just go to the branch and ask them about the cifas? What's the best to look if they have put one on other than equifax or experian, thanks0 -

If there is a phone number on the letter contact them from the comfort of your home.0 -

I did go into branch but they knew nothing and had to email the department responsible and after 2 weeks all I got was that they were not changing their decision and they would not shed any light on why they were bring closed. It was when I went into Halifax that the guy spoke to someone on the phone and said about no CIFAS but that's pretty much all I found out.
You could call Lloyds and ask to speak to someone in the account closure unit like I did but they can't tell you anything either as they only process the closures and just tell you to go into branch. Realistically the only way you are likely to find out if you have any CIFAS against you is if you soon receive letters from some of your other banks saying they are also closing your accounts or if you apply for something else and get unexpectedly declined. Or you can do a subject access request to CIFAS which costs £10 (I've not bothered as yet as I've not had any issues post receiving the closure letters at start of Feb). You can check your credit reports for CIFAS but I believe there are some categories of CIFAS that do not show up on these reports.0
