mackenzie hall - Searching My Credit File ??
2clicks
I have received a letter similar to many here from mackenzie hall, this is for a very old debt (that I of course have no recollection of).
I was alarmed when checking this morning to see that they have left a search mark on my credit file, is this legal? I was under the impression searches could only be performed with someone's permission?
Many Thanks
Adrian

What sort of 'mark' have these criminals left on your credit file, 2 clicks?
Is it just a record that they have 'searched' your file? They do this all the time, in order to see if it may be worthwhile pursuing you for this 'alleged debt'.
Don't worry though - if the 'alleged debt' is more than 6 years old, and you have not acknowledged it in writing, or made any payments to it in that time then Mackenzie Hall will no longer be able to pursue you for payment, as the 'alleged debt' will almost certainly be covered by the Limitations Act, 1980, and be 'statute barred'.
ALL you need to do is to inform MH that you will not be paying this 'alleged debt' and they must leave you alone.
You will find a template letter, that you can send them, on the following link:

Best of luck.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.
