Currys - Nikon Camera Fault

Hi
I bought a Nikon D80 on Thursday from Curry's on 9 months Pay later. Over the weekend I have just noticed that a pixel has gone on the LCD screen. This does not affect the ability of the camera to take excellent pics. I have been into Currys this morning and they reeled off a load of stuff about a pixel not actually being a fault. After an exchange of words, they offered me the display model. I thoroughly inspected the unit and it was in A1 condition. I accepted the offer and I was just wondering what people's views are. Have I made a monumental blunder? Where currys right to say that it was not a fault which I did not accept?
Thanks
Phil

hmmm interesting point.i remember when lcd's were new and often 2-3 dead pixels were seen as acceptable.however for me i would say on the price of a D80 i expect 100% on the LCD.
this is a camera on the edge of PRO specifications so who is to say a dead pixel doesnt affect is useability0 -
As much as the dead pixel/s are annoying they are not deemed faulty displays until over a certain amount of them are dead. The following is from Nikons UK site. "Monitor screen pixels that are always lit or always black. The monitor or electronic viewfinder of a camera may contain pixels that are always lit or that do not light, such pixels are referred to as 'hot' pixels if they are always lit or 'dead' pixels if they do not light. This is a characteristic common to all TFT LCD displays such as LCD monitors and laptops, it does not indicate a malfunction with the camera. Once images have been downloaded to a computer, the pixel will not be visible in images displayed on the computers screen or when printed."
Hope that helped.Better to remain a silent fool than speak and remove all doubt.0
