Do you have a local community magazine? You'll usually find an oven cleaner lurking in there. Otherwise there are several franchise oven cleaning companies across the country, OvenClean come to mind. They should be able to do a quote over the phone.

If you do decide to have a go at it yourself, I can thoroughly recommend Clean Pro Oven & Grill cleaner. Here's a link to Amazon but it's less than £3 in Makro. It's amazing stuff on grills, hobs, ovens etc. 15 minutes and you're all done. =)

Oven Pride is brilliant but follow instructions to the letter

Agreed. It's fab stuff but really nasty - keep kids and pets out of the way and get some long rubber gloves (don't bother with the flimsy ones they put in the box). It does work though, and putting the shelves in the bag and watching the gunk melt off is weirdly satisfying :)

I've used the Lakeland oven cleaning gel but it's not a match to Oven Pride. It's only about £4 a box and really easy to do.

  • An equivalent to oven pride is a product called Brite from poundworld (only a pound) and it brought my oven up perfectly. I will definitely be using it again. It comes with the bag to put the shelves in but would recommend using long gloves.
  • Saw the thread title and thought it was an offer! :j

Seriously though, when we moved, got an oven cleaner in and it was money well spent - in fact we had the whole house cleaned.

    Oven pride every time

I cook on Fan at high heat so my oven needs a good clean every 8 to 8 weeks. Oven pride is the bees knees. Yes it's full of dodgy chemicals and you do need to glove up, but it works
