AVCs for my wife?

I have the benefit of a final salary pension with a local authority and expect to have a full pension...health for the next 10 years permitting.
My wife has a part time job with a local school and is also in the local authority pension scheme. I wonder if my best form of saving is to top up her pension which will otherwise not be massive?
All coments appreciated, professional or not!

AVCs are largely obsolete now and only if they enhance the tax free lump sum or receive employer contributions are they are really any use. Added years can be a good option or the teachers additional pension scheme if available. If you are looking at phased retirement or earlier retirement to scheme age then stakeholder/personal pension or SIPPs can be of use or MAXI/S&S Mini ISAs.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
