If this is a private rental property (not housing association) then what is your full rent payable and what is the LHA rate that applies to you?

Are you being paid the 1 bedroom LHA rate yet are renting a property which is now bigger than your needs?

The LHA rate for the flat we live in is £350/month yet we pay £475/month in rent. The £125 has to come from somewhere but the problem is the more you earn the more is taken away from your benefits. It might be time to either consider moving to another property which is cheaper than 30% of rental properties in your area which from experience is very difficult as smaller properties are very much in demand or you might want to consider working more hours. Why are you only working for 24 hours a week? If you increase your hours you might be entitled to working tax credits.

:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

I think you will get more help with this on the benefits forum. Hopefully someone will be able to move your post there.
