credit file - voluntary defualt

hi everyone, im a newbie so please forgive me if i am posting in the wrong forum.

i agreed on a voluntary default when i couldn't keep up on car payments. Although i did this only back in feb 06, does anyone know how long it will stay on my credit file?

I have since managed to repay almost 15k in debt and almost completely debt free now (1500 to go!), but i have a very low credit score through this default.

i'd be happy to hear from you

  • In relation to this, say after 6 years, all this information is wiped from your credit file, does that mean you have a perfect credit score, or no credit score?

Would you be just as likely to get say a credit card if you were just 18 with no previous credit activity?
