Virgin Media Pre Employment Check

Hello, I have got through to the final stage of an application with Virgin Media for a Sales Executive position, whereby I would be based in locations such as shopping centres etc, stopping people and persuading them to sign up for Virgin Media products.
I have been reading online that some positions require pre employment checks, which I am fine with. I would like to know if anyone here is employed in the same position, and what level of checks they do.
I'm fine for DBS clearance if needed, I'm happy to be drug tested if that's a necessity, in fact I'm fiine for them to do what they have to do. Financially I have one CCJ for less that £200 which I satisfied, so I doubt if that will pose a major issue. I also have a fully verified work record previous to attending university as a mature student,
My only concern is that for the last 4.5 years, I have been self employed following graduation, and I have never been a high earner in this capacity. I've done work for various contractors (web design and seo) but I do have a couple of patches where for about 6 weeks or so I had no work, and this will show on any invoicing or statements they may ask for. Also, not every one of my contractors would be available for references, as I can no longer contact a couple from the early days as it seems they are no longer trading. My most recent one would be happy to do so, however.
If they do not do such heavy checks for this position, all well and good, I would just like a heads up so I can try and put a contingency plan in place. From what I have read, these third party checking firms are exceedingly heavy on some of these checks!

There should be a DBS check as you would in theory be working with (potentially) vulnerable adults.
Also you'll be working under the data protection act, so security concerns would need to be satisfied, outside of that, standard references I suspect.
(someone will know for sure, but I cant see why you'd require anything beyond that)0 -
If it is standard references then that won't be so bad as I can get ones from my most recent contractors0
