    Fine, I understand that LXdaddy. My point is that there are much more significant factors to worry about, particularly the point I raised.
    Sorry, I should start a new thread. Perhaps I am opening up the discussion too much. Anyway, the discussion on the "hotspot" is an interesting one and I have enjoyed reading it.

    You should really start a new thread if you want to debate the merits of deferring or not as your post made no sense here at all. When you do, you have homed in rather narrowly on your calculation of "breakeven points" but there are other equally valid considerations concerning whether you have a spouse, have substantial savings you can use, whether you want to pass savings onto others, IHT rates if you do leave cash you could have used to defer pension etc etc etc.
