Mobile phone contract after mortgage offer

Options
We recently had a mortgage offer and exchanged contracts last week(don't complete until June). Tomorrow my 24 month mobile phone contract expires and I'm thinking of taking a new contract with different provider for £10 less per month than what I currently now.

Stupid question but will this have any impact on our mortgage offer? I'm pretty sure a new search will be carried out and wasn't sure if the lender will check our file/withdraw its offer.

  • If you've had the mortgage offer already, not sure why the loan company would want to do another credit check ... I think you should be ok, plus you'll be saving money!

Remember your home is at risk if you do not keep up with repayments on the mortgage or other loans secured against it.

    Oh lord.

Mortgage lender can re-check at any point up to completion.
  • I seriously doubt it will have any impact on your mortgage offer, but if you're really worried, why not just go onto a rolling contract and upgrade your phone once your purchase has gone through?
  • I was told by my mortgage broker not to do anything with credit until completion. Sure enough I have had 2 further checks on my credit file from the lender.
  • Thanks everyone, think I'll stick on a rolling contract until we complete just in case.
