Incorrect info on credit file

Hi guys, I'm new to the forum so applogies in advance if asking this question in the wrong place.
I had a sofa on credit back in 2007, I split with my wife in 2008 and in 2012 I learnt that the sofa had not been paid for by my wife and that the credit company had got a solicitor to obtain a CCJ against me and also a charging order on my house,
The credit company is still showing this account as a late payment on my credit file even though it is in default, two questions here 1, should this not be showing as a default account and secondly if it should be showing as default on my credit file how do I make them correct it on my credit file.
Many thanks for any help in advance

Make a formal complaint that... -
- the information being recorded on your file is inaccurate and a breach of the Data Protection Act (DPA)/Principles
- under ICO guidelines the non payment and subsequent CCJ are undeniable indicators of a default, such that one should have been recorded when payments in arrears reached 3 months worth, or at the very least before the date of any eventual CCJ.
- that by falsely recoding late payments instead, not only is the information inaccurate, but they incorrectly prolonging the time the adverse data remains on your credit file, causing the data to be processed longer than necessary in breach of the DPA
- that unless they correct the information with an accurately dated default, or remove the information entirely, you will be taking the matter to the FOS for redress and correction, and to the ICO as a complaint of a breach of the DPA.
- that they must treat this a a formal complaint, and send you a copy of their complaints procedure.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
