Ok, here goes. Most of the figures in this list are pre-changes. I haven't had a chance to rework the budget yet.
Standard payments:

C. Tax 88.00
Gas ??
Electric 55.00
Car Ins 32.95
Accident Ins 4.95
TV/phone/internet 53.00
TV licence 27.10
Gym 86.00
AA breakdown 19.29
Water Rates 26.96
Misc payments:
Housekeeping 220.00 (55.00 during 4 wk mths and 44.00 during 5 wk mths)
Petrol 50.00
HSBC savings (car fund) 10.00
Mobile top up 7.50
Weight Watchers website 5.00
Interest on overdraft 3.00
Halifax ISA 20.00
Debts - how much I owe is in my signature:
Abbey loan repayment 174.86
Egg card 40.00
Cap 1 36.00
If my maths is correct, my monthly outgoings are £1260.03. My income to the end of last month was £1253.00 average per month. I help out at my Weight Watchers meeting and they pay me between 1.00-3.00 per week depending on how many members/new members come through the door.
Income - will be £20039 pa (includes pay rise of 4.1 % - awarded this week, to be backdated to 1st July)
Gas - prepayment meter to be changed 7th Sept (was paying £30pm)
TV/phone/internet - have downgraded my TV package and broadband speed (will reduce the figure above by £19.50 pm)
Gym includes monthly fee (£36) and 2 sessions with a personal trainer (need to lose lots of lbs as well as save £s!)
Have applied (and been approved) for a 3rd credit card - the HSBC one with 4.9% fixed rate interest until 2012. Don't know how much they'll let me have as I only got the approval letter on 30th Aug.
"Savings" - I have £60 in the ISA. Am doing a health studies degree with the Open Uni and need to get some money together to pay for my next course. There's about £25 in HSBC to go towards MOT, car tax, repairs etc.
If anyone has any suggestions I will be very grateful.

There is a bit missing about your income - can you edit it so we can see what your shortfall or otherwise is?Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0

Are you getting your single persons discount on your council tax then?
Just noticed your houskeeping amount added on - that can be slashed if its only you and a cat. I feed and clean a family of 5 on £150 a month. I reckon you could easily halve the amount you spend there - pop over to the oldstyle board for tips on cheaper housekeeping.
have you applied for funding from OU? I am an OU student too

I would suggest starting a spending diary, so you can see every penny going in and every penny going out - it will help you focus on exactly how much you are spending, and also show you what you can cut out without too much pain!
Also, get ebaying anything that isn't nailed down, join quidco and other cashback sites etc.
When is your breakdown cover due - you are paying an awful lot for that and can definitely get it cheaper - also you would get cashback from quidco possibly!! A win-win situation!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -

If you have not already done so, go to www.quidco.com when you renew and see if there is anyone there that grabs your fancy! I am sure you will be able to renew at a cheaper rate, and get cashback. The cashback takes a couple of months to come through, but it is a very useful bonus to have!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. OK, had a look on the OU's financial support ready reckoner, and based on £20039 income you stated above, it says you would be entitled to £354 towards courses between 30 and 90 points, and £530 if you studied 90 points or more, plus £250 study grant towards materials. That is assuming you live in England or NI. Different rules for Wales and Scotland. Hope that helps - get your claim form in
