Virgin mortgage help

Options
So we have got a mortgage in principle and supplied payslips and bank statements. They have asked for proof of the deposit but this won't clear till Wednesday as it was a gift from parents. Will this delay the surveyor going out?

Thanks

    It should not do.
Did you declare the deposit as a gift? If so, is it not just a gofted deposit letter they want?

  • Hi yes we have declared the money as a gift so we have the paperwork. So you think they will still instruct the surveyor? We've paid for it yesterday. We are renting at the moment and there is no chain so we want a quick move. Thanks for replying
  • I'd read somewhere that Virgin do valuation before underwriting - but I'm applying with Virgin at the moment, and I got a call from an underwriter to tell me financials were OK and they'd now arrange the valuation. If you're paying the valuation fees, you should at least *ask* them to go ahead with the valuation while you get them proof of deposit, the worst that can happen is they say no :-)

The funds don't have to clear in your account to prove the deposit.

The gift letter is good enough.

  • The gift is only for some of the deposit and we have saved the rest. Thanks
