Good and bad buys from Netto (much like the equivalent Aldi and Lidl thread)

The 'Good and bad buys from Aldi and Lidl' thread has proved useful over the years, and convinced many doubters that whilst both are much cheaper than mainstream supermarkets the quality's every bit as good - if not better.

Around 13 stores across the north of England at the moment (it's a joint operation between the Danish Netto and Sainsbury's) but plans are to open more, to compete with Aldi, Lidl and the other supermarkets.

Having visited one or two, I'd say they're going to struggle. Downmarket on Aldi and Lidl (both of which started like this, but moved upmarket) but with apparently higher prices.

Maybe I'm missing something? Care to share the good and bad buys?

This week's deals:

  • Netto was rubbish which was why it didn't succeed last time. Why would people bother again?
Those 'offers' don't look particularly good any way.

By the look of it's leaflet, don't seem that special.

Trying to be an Aldi lookalike. Looks more like Kwicksave or Poundland.

I shop there regularly as it's on the way home from work. The weekly meat deals are good - currently £2 for mini chicken fillets (normally £2.75 in Lidl) £2.50 for pork loin chops.
Fruit and veg are OK - again good weekly offers; currently 69p for red pointed peppers, 5 oranges, cherry toms or potatoes.
I love the "buy me try me free" offers, chopped toms free with 37p tomato puree and hot choc free with 99p mini rolls this week.
Some brands are the same as Lidl at similar prices.
They sell my favourite Warburtons crumpets at 69p all the time - the other supermarkets fluctuate between 65p and 99p.
Their own brand Prosecco was lovely at just over a fiver, bottled beer is as cheap as anywhere else.
The only thing I wouldn't buy again was the frozen peas - they were floury, but the petit pois were fine!

Prompted me to check out where these stores are. I did know about the tie-in with sainsburys and that my previous local store had not re-opened, but using the store locator tab was very pleased to find a store about 10 miles away.
went yesterday and although on this occasion I didn't spend much , I will go again. Thanx for posting , and starting this thread.

Have to disagree with that, oh, and Netto succeeded very well when Asda made them an offer they couldn't refuse. Probably made good business sense (to Netto)

I have visited 2 since they reopened , the shops themselves are clean and bright with wide aisles. Like Aldi I couldn't do a full shop there but will go from time to time for a change.
