What to do, frankly.

andyfromotley, I am not giving up on anything. That is not my nature, and I certainly need to both negotiate with creditors and also cut costs. The big thing to cut are children's clubs and activities, but that is really hard, which is why I have not yet done it. We also need to be super-strict with buying things we don't need and try to live on cheap food.
Yes, I have realised how bad it is to owe HMRC anything.
Anyway, I am going to make some calls tomorrow but I need to focus on paying back HMRC the CT asap, I think that is the worst bit.
As an aside, I have just realised that we have paid off a third on both cars which apparently puts us in a slightly better position there.
I would also like to add that since this whole nightmare started in August 2013 when we, the same week, bought a house, stupidly signed for two cars on finance, received a letter from HMRC re the MARD, had the overdraft cancelled with the bank and was told about about 9k debt to repay, we have gone from total debts of £153k to £120k (unsecured from £68k to £39) so yes, still bad but it is the right direction. I live by the the Becket motto "I can't go on. I'll go on".0 -
Spoken to HMRC and Business Debtline and feel much better. Thanks everyone for your help. I have set myself a DFD of 11 April 2019 because based on the last 2.5 years, I can manage to pay it all off by then.0

Great news. Id still post an Soa, people on here can always find ways of saving money that you will never have considered. Although they seem like small monthly savings they are in reality the golden savings because they go on month in moth out, year after year saving a small (or sometimes large!) fortune.£1000 Emergency fund No90 £1000/1000
