Car loans/Finance for people with bad credit

Do you need a car? I just ask because the costs can be more than you think, and Public Transport can be cheaper than you think. Or if you live in Bath, you walk as Worst Bus are incredibly expensive!
If you do, would you be better off buying a real cheapie, even if it only lasts a year you will probably be better off. Skoda Felicias may be naff, but they are good, reliable cars and very cheap, just as a suggestion.
I just worry that an expensive loan may be too much, and if you miss just one payment, they can be really nasty and add a lot of charges.0 -
I don't think Welcome fare much better in the review stakes.
My last car was a volkwagen Vento - a Golf with a boot, 1993 and cost me £275, fantastic car. Sold it for £300 when I swapped to an automatic earlier this year.
My car before that was a Vauxhall Carlton Estate, 1993, 150k on the clock (!) cost £400 and lasted 4 years with only 1 tyre per MOT. Only swapped to the Vento because a couple of sensors went and it suddenly got very dear at the MOT.
I've also had (10 years ago) a Citroen X2 Pony, which cost £300, a simple but very reliable car.
Might be something to think about rather than a loan if there is any way you can pull a few hundred together.

4 years ago i had to sell my beloved car as i was in that much debt, ended up with a L reg Astra which cost me 600quid, that car lasted me 2 years before i sold it on to upgrade to a corsa, the astras still running about as i saw it down my local shopping centre a few months back
never had a problem with that car til i had decided that i was going for a newer car
might be worth getting a cheap runaround rather than forking out thousands on a car which you cant really afford0
