Hi everyone, Im new to all this so if I make a mistake, sorry!
I turned 21 yesterday and Im in a ridiculos amount of debt, I so dont know what to do anymore, Im working 50 hours a week to try and help myself but I just dont seem to be getting anywhere.
I live with my parents so I dont have too many major outgoings, obviously not as many as some of you who have mortgages and children to feed, and I seriously feel for you, I really couldnt deal with that and debt at the same time so I have the upmost respect for you.
So, Ive given up going out, shopping and impluse buys, but does anyone have any other tips for me?
The debt is all on credit cards, I have applied for a bank loan so to pay them all off and bring my intrest rate down, but they have all said no.
Please help, any suggestions will be greatly apprciated

Post up an SOA and I'm sure we can help you (see southern scousers sticky at the top).
At least you have realised you have a problem while you are young! I wish I had had my lightbulb moment when I was your age, but it took me about 20 years of being in debt to finally get it!

Hey Vix,
Happy birthday for yesterday!
Welcome to the boards!
Oh and not that it's relevant but I'm 21 too!
Well done on starting to look at your debts, it does get easier over time! I'm sure there are lots of ways you can improve things, as everyone has said if you look at the thread at the top of this board (that Southern Scouser wrote about posting an SOA) then that will be a lot easier for us to understand - and therefore a lot easier for us to give advice!
Hope to hear from you soon!Target debt - Loan left over from previous relationship - c. £3700

Hi Vi - you've come to the right place - just a few years ago I was looking at a debt of over 20k - my husband was on about starting a family etc but I didn't want to being so much in debt so we knuckled down hard thanks to the help we got from these guys on here and what do you know we were debt free within a week of our son being born - I have to confess that I had an easy pregnancy and worked until I was 8 and a half months gone and then thought I'd put my swollen feet up for a bit ........ not to be, son arrived a few days later. He will be 2 next Friday.
Like everyone has said share your SOA with us and we can have a look at it.0 -
Happy birthday!!
The good thing is that because your necessary outgoings are low, because you live with your parents, you have every chance of getting on top of this. It will be hard work, but you can do it!
Have a read of southernscouser's sticky for new posters above these threads and put together your SOA for the great and the good of the DFW world to help you.

Happy birthday Vix. Well done for trying to sort yourself out. You stand the best chance of getting on top of your finances while you are young and living at home. Good luck to you.0

Once you post im sure we will all help you to reduce all or most of your outgoings, also have you tried using the demotivator tool on the home page it is a bit of fun but it does put it all into perspective.:)0
