HM Revenue text message-should I believe it or is this a scam?

At 3.53 I received a mobile text message from HM Revenue saying "you have a refund of £287.49 GBP and you can claim it by clicking on the link below http://hmrevenue.gov.uk.claim-taxes-refunds.overview.sase.doi.com"
Is this real OR is this a fake and should I avoid?
I have put the link into my laptop and it has come up with a page asking for address information and is asking for debit/credit card information. It sounds a little suspicious to me and is worrying. Has anybody else had this text and they've had similar? Or is the advice take this with a pinch of salt and ignore it?

Thank you for that advice;i've deleted it. Sounds dodgy. HMRC would never normally ask for debit card/credit card details;I can't see it.

how come you can find a forum on the internet yet are unable to find and use HMRC's own website to read what they say about security and how they contact you?????

Well, in my defence, I don't read newspapers. If I am unsure I WILL ask regardless.

HMRC DO use both text and email to correspond with customers, but never to confirm details of repayments due.
The information sent by email and text direct fromHMRC is only ever as a reminder to complete a required form, or to advise a submission of a form has been received.
In the future as the online Personal Tax Account becomes more widely used and more services are added to it, the taxpayer will see more electronic communications from HMRC as standard instead of sending letters.
You can already opt out of paper correspondence in certain circumstances such as coding notices, self assessment statements, self assessment notices to file a return. IN these cases you would be sent a message advising you that you have new correspondence and tolog intoyour personal tax account to see what it is. This is similar to the service many of our banks currently use.
One thing to remember is that HMRC will NEVER notify you of an actual refund via any form of unsolicited digital contact (text/email), and will never provide the details of how much a refund is by text or email.[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.
