Congratulations on both accounts chelseablue! Sounds like we're in a similar life stage - been in our flat for 18 months and get married in 4 weeks!! Mortgage payments had to go on hold for quite a while but knowing we wanted to get back to it has helped curbed the wedding spending... slightly.... :A

Wow in 4 weeks, how exciting!

Weddings have got to be one of the most un-MSE things ever :rotfl:

On the plus side sent £400 today as a mortgage overpayment

Congrats chelseablue! You've made great progress in one year. Enjoy the wedding planning and - as Hopless says - having one eye on OPs may well help keep your wedding spends down. But try not to stress, everyone has their own way of dealing with things and prioritising. Looking back we spent more than a year's mortgage payments getting married four years ago and don't regret a bean! :D Hard at the OPing now though...

Oh my God I'm counting down the months now!! (6 months more high payments to go in case you're interested ;) )

We get the free hours from September (DS is 3 in May) apparently the government are increasing it to 30 hours a week this year which will be amazing.

Hope his nursery will be offering it

    Rubbish start to the week!

Yesterday the flush broke on our toilet, so spent £20 buying the bits to fix it, OH fixing it tonight hopefully!

Then today there's a problem with my car, it drives fine but when you are driving along the light is on the dash to say a door is open....when there isn't!

More money down the drain fixing that, although it could wait a while as it doesn't really cause a problem, its just annoying.

Car is 11 years old this year so niggly things will start to happen I guess

    Hi All

The problem with my car has now fixed itself! So hurrah for that!
Hopefully just need to spend out for the MOT and service, so that'll be September.

    Over paid £400 in March....new balance £223,377.

First mini target is to get under £220k, that'll be sometime this year.

Wedding is booked for June next year, already paid £800 deposit to the venue and £465 for the registrars. Sooooo un-money saving!

As well as overpaying we're also saving each month for the wedding, nearer the time if we're a bit off target I could always stop overpaying but don't really want to do that.

Must keep chipping away at it, already saved £2 a month interest :rotfl:
