Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
edited 18 February 2016 at 3:12PM in Mortgages & endowments
Afternoon everyone.
I've been trying to change mortgage lenders, take over the mortgage in my sole name and increase my borrowing for the past couple of years since I separated and subsequently divorced my ex-husband in 2008. Although I previously had huge debts which affected my ability to change lenders etc ,these are now paid off and no longer appear on my credit reports. My property is worth approx £90,000 to £100,000,I currently have a mortgage of £43,600 and want to increase my borrowing to £65,000/£70,000. My income is not an issue( so I have been told a number of times) but where I keep failing is on credit scoring. I have 3 past defaulted accounts totaling £1500 which will stay on my file for 6 years from repayment. These dates are 1/17,11/17 and 10/18.
I previously had to decide whether to pay the gas, electric, mortgage in the past or the catalogue accounts and this is where the defaults came from.
I am in the best financial position(or so I think) that I have been in for years but unable to find a lender that I can move to.
Does anyone have any advice as to where I can apply to that may help as I need a ton of home improvements carrying out and don't want to wait til 2018 to maybe be able to change everything.
thanks in advance

ps my income is made up of £12000 salary,CHB and CTC and WTC for 3 teenage children and £70pw child support

Have you spoken with a broker? If so who have they recommended applying to?

This should be achievable on competitive terms, as suggested next stop likely to be a mortgage broker.

    Best of luck
