Hi everyone, I received a letter from my bank a few days ago informing me that Nationwide bank has asked them to refund me £30 plus £5 interest for their ATM machine not either give me the money or did not dispense the whole amount I request although my bank account was debited. I was not aware of this as I usually don't stand there counting money at ATMs especially when there is a long queue behind you. According to them. the date of the transaction was 28 January 2008. That is over 8 years ago. Why did they keep my money for so long. Does to amount to professional negligence? Can I charge them daily compound interest for holding my money illegally for 8 good years? Thanks

They made a mistake and realised it (or made a typo on the letter) and have refunded you the cash and £5 compensation. Can I charge them daily compound interest for holding my money illegally for 8 good years? Thanks
No. It's not illegal and you can't charge them anything.Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
