    The 3% was a statistic he said verbally, with no reference to anything as far as I could see. Market rate, according to him.
    One of the nice things about being a scammer is that you can invent facts to make your case look better. :)

    3% is really around the dividend part of the UK stock market return, around or a bit under half of the long term total average return. But a scammer victim probably won't just know those sorts of thing and will just assume that the scammer is telling something a bit like the truth.

    I had one client who entertained a scammer who used the statement from the existing provider which showed three growth rates. The lower being a negative. The scammer misrepresented the projections by only focusing on the lower saying his pension was actually losing money as if it was a fact.

    Scammers lie. They don't follow the rules or act fairly. They want to scam you.
