Won a mini-break but then I did not!!!

I entered a competition online and immediately said that I won a mini-break. Got a email from the company yesterday saying that unfortunately due to a technical problem, I did not win but as a consolation I will be send a goody bag from the firm. My family are extremely disappointed. Has anyone had a prize taken away due to 'technical problem'?

Yesterday I had an email to say I had won a Starbucks gift voucher from a survey site I use regularly. Obviously not as exciting as a holiday but still a pleasant surprise! Then a little while later I received an email to say actually it was a technical error and I had won nothing.

Yes, lots of websites do it - especially if they "accidentally" leave the competition widget in test mode .... It all depends if their T&C's state that they can forfeit any prizes due to technical errors

Last one where there was mass winners (then not) was Crabbies
Although - after a lot of bad publicity they did honour all the prizes

I had the Starbucks one as well. Although I didn't notice it till I'd received the cancellation email so didn't get the chance to be disappointed.

Im assuming the comp was the recent coconut water one? A load of people posted wins on various forums over a short space of time so it comes as no surprise they are not honouring them.A couple of years ago similar thing happened with a VIP trip to New York where lots of people won.I was one of the winners didn't get a VIP trip but did get a trip to New York with spends and premium economy so SOME companies are more generous than others.

I'm sure many people on here will remember the day they won a trip to Barcelona with Boots - except they sent the email to everyone who had entered! My husband and I both entered and got a £10 Boots voucher each as an apology.....
