it's the way that I was raised and it never did me any harm..........what a cruel mummy I am lol x
I've always done the same too.. I HATE cooking and HATE eating so I will do one meal.. and the words 'eat it or starve' are used.
I have 2 don't like potatoes, 2 that don't like pasta and another that doesn't like processed food.. the other 3 eat anything.. pretty much.. but all of them bar one hate 'sloppy food' like stews, soups, sauces.. but they get them anyway lol.. I try to strain out some of the liquid and just give them the lumps.. works to an extent. Only hubby and DS1 will eat anything remotely spicy so everything is bland and uninteresting.. but that means curries, etc are out too.
There is a boy at school with DD3 who is supposedly anaemic.. his stupid mother says oh he wont eat this or that or the other.. then gives him a handful of biscuits.. well no.. I wouldn't eat mash if I knew I'd get a handful of biscuits instead either, who would?! I want to slap her every time she says it.. the children are given biscuits for breakfast and for supper (half a packet each!!) they also have them in their lunches.. and sweets for dessert.. Defies belief really!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Can I just add a vote for the 'tough love' way.
My MIL had 4 sons & would happily cook 4 different meals for them.
I was exactly the opposite, my kids got the eat it or starve treatment, despite the fact that one of them was small & skinny, I toughed it out.
I am now stuck with a hubby who won't eat stuff cos he's not tried it before, & everytime it happens I could throttle MIL.

Do you mind sharing your morning routine. My youngest is now at f-time school and I now want to organise the chaos we have been living in since the eldest was born.
Gladly Spendless but I am retired and obviously don't have children here full time although the GC do spend a lot of time with me and I don't have to change the routine that much when they are. The trick is to work out everything that needs to be done every day and only go over the ground once. A tip I heard on the TV from the housekeeper of a stately home is to work fast. So with that in mind AM. I never go downstairs until the bed/beds are made and I and/or GC have showered and dressed. The bathroom then gets a lick over and cleaner put down loo (I clean bath/basin/tiles properly on a Sunday morning) and everything upstairs is put away. Takes about 30 mins Downstairs I then take clean clothes out of the WM and put in the TD, get breakfast, wash up, run broom/carpet sweeper round. (I hoover once a week on a Monday). When the clothes are dried I fold and put away/put in ironing basket (I iron on Tuesdays sometimes in the morning or if more interesting things are happening in front of the TV in the evening)
I always wash/wipe up after each meal. OH usually helps.
I change beds on a Monday.
OH cleans the windows/puts the rubbish out (in my opinion these are not womans jobs)
Before bed I put a load in the WM. Tidy sitting room and put everything away. Put cleaner down loo in cloakroom. Takes about 15 minutes.
Hope this helps.Mortgage and Debt free but need to increase savings pot. :think:0
