Decorating on a budget

I am having my 30th birthday party in November & so far its costing £200 for food & a DJ - however I now need to think about decorating the place. I'm not good at decorating anything & would like to keep it subtle. I do like balloons though so know I definitely want those - any other ideas? Any sites anyone can think of to get inspiration from?
Thanks in advance!

It depends on the venue and the type of party you're having...
Presumably with a DJ you are having a disco, but what is the seating like? Are you having a sit-down meal with more formal tables which need centre-pieces, or is it more informal with tables around the edge of the dance-floor and a buffet-style food? Plus, does the venue mind you sticking things to the walls/ceiling?
Balloons are great because they are fairly inexpensive. I would pick a specific colour or theme and go with it. Perhaps some helium balloons floating up from the main tables, plus some "normal" ones attached to the walls. If you are looking to keep things subtle, maybe consider matching some of the table cloths (could be paper, don't have to be expensive cloth ones) and the serviettes (paper again). Perhaps make a feature of the table which will have your birthday cake on it. Small flower arrangements would look pretty on tables - remember, you can always add ribbons into them in order to get colour into them. Also, they don't have to be expensive - 1 single gerbera with a little greenery can look nice in a tall vase - you don't have to produce enormous floral displays...less can be more! You can also get confetti (small metallic "happy birthday" or "30" which might be nice sprinkled on a buffet/cake table...?!).
Candles - if the venue allows them? Streamers or paperchains in particular colours? Perhaps some of the food could be themed to match a colour ( a "welcome" cocktail?!) or other theme...?
Try the Confetti website for lots of different ideas - www.confetti.co.uk - they don't just do weddings...
I'm sure lots of other people will be along soon with much better ideas, but hopefully this might start the ball rolling...

Thanks piglet! It is an informal room - will have small tables but probably won't decorate these as they will be filled with everyone's drinks. I will be checking if the venue minds candles as I really don't know - however i don't think they are fussed about things being stuck on the walls etc.2019 Wins: Feb: £10 Aldi Voucher, Frankie & Benny's meal for 2; May: Game from Maynards.
