I dont disagree with you.
But your basing a view point on very limited information. The debate or advice wasnt really about what the family should regards to living arrangements but rather what options does she have regards to the assets she has right now. whether certain options for her are the right ones is a matter for her to decide.
I guess from the responses no one really wished to advise on the financial aspect of this convo?0 -
One other point, rather than plan to give / leave each of her children a specific property she need to make sure her will splits her assets fairly, otherwise should she be knocked down by a bus a short while after purchasing the second property, someone is going to inherit a house and the other one a house with little to no equity in it.0

Read the responses, there's been lots said about the financial implications of doing what you plan and they are mostly negative for your mum.
If you want to know specifically about obtaining a mortgage then it was answered in the first post. The next course of action, assuming your Mum knows what she's doing and wishes to go down this path, is probably to speak to a broker.0 -
