If you go to a new lender then it's likely to be an issue, if you remain with your existing lender then potentially not.

Have you asked First Direct what their policy is in this?
It's likely to be a deal breaker unless you have a return to work date, although can't be sure as they are direct onlyI am a Mortgage Adviser
