yesterday car failed MOT over £300 to fix and this morning I got an interest rise letter from Picture Financial for secured loan and a default notice from Alliance and Leicester for being over the overdraft.
I signed up with Alliance and Leicester and they messed up the transfer from my existing current account to their Premier direct account. I had a £250 overdraft and used it. I also set up a £10 DD, this was about six months ago.
Last month I got a letter saying that they had bounced the DD and charged me (I had completely forgotton about the DD). So the DD would have taken me to -£260 but instead their charges took me to -£280. I sent a cheque for £40.00 and cancelled the DD. In between them getting the cheque and now I have inccured another £50 charges so got a default letter today.
I have phoned them, made a complete fool of myself by crying  and to cut a long rant short there is nothing I can do I have to pay the £50 and wait for it
there will be MORE charges next month because I have 'gone over the 5 days' or something.
They said they can't refund any charges because of the FSA directive regarding the test case blah blah blah.
Sorry for the rant but feel a bit better now!
Caroline

I know the feeling - been there - read the book - got Tee-Shirt etc., still doesn't make it feel better.
Good luck Caroline - at least it's the weekend.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

do you know how much you will get charged next month for being over 5 days? if you know how much, at least you can budget for it, or try and raise some extra cash (ebay etc.) to make up for it and then it should lessen the impact.Olympic Countdown Challenge #145 ~ DFW Nerd #389 ~ Debt Free Date: [STRIKE]December 2015[/STRIKE] September 2015
