Frozen Peas - Tesco's
Frozen peas are a boring staple, and we've always bought Birds Eye as they're the best, and assumed cheaper brand would be like bullets. But now they've bumped the price right up for some reason, so we tried Tesco's own (not the value range), and they're just as good!
Bird's Eye 1.37kg: £3.29
Tesco's own 1kg: £1.35
A substantial difference in price, bye bye Bird's Eye.

I'm happy with the Lidl ones at 89p/1Kg. Or their petit pois at about £1.0

I am happy with Tesco Value peas, about £1 ish.

What is boring about peas?0

have to say, tesco petit pois are just pois! (i mean they are as big as normal peas). I prefer aldi's. Only buy Birds Eye these days if they are on a decent offer.0

Stopped buying birds eye peas years ago ( not sure they were ever the best)
Always get tesco or sainsburys. Not fussed on lidl's but I picked up a bag of their petit pois this week to try, hopefully we will like them
Nothing boring about peas, I love them and have them with most meals and if I've nothing else in the house, pea soup is quick and delish0 -
There are a lot of things like this where the branded version is no better.0

I disagree in this case. Birds Eye peas are definitely better than any own brand ones I've tried, but I'm afraid I agree with the OP - they aren't so much better that they justify the silly price. Tesco's are acceptable as a replacement.0 -

I'm another that doesn't think Bird's Eye prices are justified.
I'd recommend Farmfoods own brand if you have a branch nearby. The peas are really good as is most of their frozen veg (particularly find the leeks useful) and often on offer for multipacks.0
