Pension Advice Agency

I was contacted last night over the telephone by somebody stating they worked for the Pension Advice Agency offering a "free" assessment of my pension with one of their assessors. I put him off and asked him to contact me back tonight once I had my work diary with me.
I've done a quick internet search to try to find something about them but can't find anything. Does anybody know anything about them? Are they a legitimate company? Are they really trying to sell me something?
I'm not suggesting they are dodgy or anything but you can't be too sure in this day and age. If anybody can tell me anything about them I'd be really grateful.
Regards,

A legitimate company will never cold call you about your pension so avoid them.
If you want someone to look at your pension then find an IFA. Like everything else this will involve a fee as you're not going to get something for nothing.0 -
as jem16 says .....avoid!!
no one reputable should contact you direct on these matters. remember that & don't get sucked in.
see an IFA0 -
Lots of alarm bells here
1 - cold calling - most pension scams start with a cold call and genuine decent companies do not cold call
2 - free pension reviews do not exist. The regulator and other consumer bodies have issued warnings to avoid free pension reviews
3 - The company name appears to be a style to attempt to mimic or confuse.
4 - There is no company of that name authorised in the UK to deal with UK consumers. So, they are not allowed to do pension reviews.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
Just a quick message to thank those who took time out to respond to my plea for help.
Strangely enough, even though they said they would, the "company" didn't get back in touch with me to try to arrange an appointment. Shame really, because of the help I received on this forum I was ready with a few questions of my own!!
Thanks once again for your help and support. What a great Forum!!0
