Hi All,
First time posting on this site, hoping someone can share their experience/wisdom!
My partner and I have just received our Agreement in Principle from Nationwide through a London and Country broker. I just wanted to check if anyone knew how often a mortgage application might be turned down after a successful AIP?
I know that the AIP involves a hard credit check, and so they have found nothing of concern in our credit files. I've heard that the only thing that could really trip us up now is the valuation and/or if the information we supplied was incorrect/falsified.
Any thoughts?
Cheers,
Hopeful in London

Your question cannot be sensibly answered. I suspect the question is not how often a decline happens, but more 'will it happen to me?'
If your situation is exactly as set out on the AIP, and you can prove it, and the property is suitable security, you have a very strong chance.I am a Mortgage Broker

Thanks for getting back me. I understand my questioning is vague and of course I am worried it will happen to me.
What I wanted to check was if anyone has had an AIP with Nationwide but then been declined a full mortgage and under what circumstances. It may be something I can look out for or head off before it becomes an issue in my own application.
I know there are things I cannot change because they will be looking at data from the past but just wanted to check to make sure I have done everything possible to make sure the application is successful. Our broker says it's highly unlikely we would be rejected but I just wanted to see what other people have experienced.

Nationwide have tens of thousands of applications a year. The story of one, or a dozen, will not inform you.
Rely on your broker.I am a Mortgage Broker
