Hints on band 7 interview questions around teamworking

Hi,

I have a band 7 (NHS) interview later this week.

I need some help with possible answers that I can give if asked about 'approaching staff on team working issues' - any help greatly appreciated :-) I guess they mean if people don't get on or someone isn't doing their job correctly/pulling their weight.

They will be looking for examples of when you have managed such a situation. Difficult for others to give you answers when they need to be from your own experience.

I know its a different area (Civil Service) but on their competency framework they have a 'leading and communicating' competency that is supposed to cover challenging conversations and a 'collaborating and partnering' one that focusses on team work.

On each of these, they highlight six positive behaviours for each that they expect applicants to prove they meet with their example.

I'm guessing Level 7 NHS may equate to EO level in the Civil Service (junior management/senior admin/possibly team management duties) but you may be able to match the levels better than my guess.

You may find the points there inspire you to think up a scenario from your experience which you may not have realised to date has relevance.

The STARR framework would help you structure your response and I'm guessing you are familar with it.

    outline Situation (corporate context)
    outline Task (dilemma)
outline Activity (steps taken to resolve)
    outline Results (actual outcome)
outline Reflection (what you learned/how you could have done it better)

Again, there's plenty of info on the STARR way of answering, the things you need to consider covering in more detail.

Is there a similar framework or publication that the NHS publish that provides guidance on what is expected from the candidate in terms of the evidence they need to provide to meet the competency, the exact behaviours that must be covered, the exact formula required to answer it?
