Nothing its my birthday today so I'm having a day off money saving
Happy Birthday!! Mine too, but feeling depressed as it's also Jane Seymour's and she's the same age as me!

Grandchildren for the week, weather looks good despite snow so lots of country walks, may even do a picnic in the snow. Lovely! (and cheap!)

Hope you have lots of cake and are indulged by everyone around you.

Hope you both have a fab day!!! :bdaycake::bdaycake:

OK, so that's most of my list done now. Can afford 2 camping trips from the Holiday Savings Piggy, as well as having enough money to pay off cottage balance by the end of March, a few months earlier than I thought. It did take a while to get these Savings Piggies right (envelope system), but it's a method which does seem to work for us.
    A few other tiny bits:
*Checked for goodwill payment from energy company. Nope! They did say it would take a month for it to appear, so it's still a bit early, but the saga has been rumbling on for ages, so it feels like longer.
*Rounded up coppers & added to shrapnel tin (bagging up to pay into Car Fund when we have enough of any coin to make up a cash bag).
*Did 2 x Supermarket feedback prize draws.
*Did a PAD of £4 into Car Fund & updated signature.
    *Refused cat a 3rd breakfast.
*Checked date for car insurance payment going out. Feb 29th. Another payday before then, but have kept hold of the money in our account. I do like paying annually, to avoid the charge for monthly instalments, but it's a much bigger wodge of money to come out of our account & I like to know exactly when the dd is going to strike.
*Put another layer on (big cardi) - that's 3 layers now, plus thick tights under my trousers, but it's such a cold day here. Very icy first thing & a tiny smattering of snow. First thing I do on such mornings is check the back of the house (conservatory/loo) to see if the pipes have frozen. If temperatures drop to below -7 outside, we do tend to get some frozen pipes & I have to use my low-tech but effective 'tea-lights in the pantry' method to thaw them gently. All fine this morning, but another very cold night forecast.
OK, time to make some lunch & do some of the non-financial stuff on my list.

    Afternoon folks,

Thanks to Ziggy for starting the thread - I will read the thread when I get home

    Today's list includes:
    • Checked bank – no change but it is a habit
    • Checked investment, there is enough there for a payout – need to request this
    • Drive sensibly on the motorway – thankfully the roads are quiet so it doesn’t take too long to get to work
    • Work really hard at work to earn my new salary
    • Out of work – work on my confidence......work in progress
    • Work on my dress – I have been invited to a Ball in London (with work) in March, so 2x weekends to make the dress
    • LSD – needed to buy breakfast and need to buy a cheapo lunch
    • Spend the evening with Hubster watching bits and bobs on the sky box – we were out yesterday so we had to record things we would normally watch
    • Charging my phone via the work PC
    • Read papers online
    • Investigate the new savings personal allowance
    • Empty purse into my savings pots
    • Look into further education
    • Try 10 minutes of meditation – hopefully it’ll make me a calmer/confident person
    • Find somewhere to go for lunch on Sunday – we are away for the weekend, so we will find somewhere on the way back
    • A quick shower tonight – it saves me time in the morning
    • Will make tomorrow’s breakfast and lunch tonight so there are no excuses

Think that is it for me

    Take care all,
    Candy xxx

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
Wow here we are all on page 2. That's not like us :)

Happy birthday to both the birthday ladies :)

Ziggy - sorry to hear your son is ill and that you had such a bad night.

I had the luck of finding my 2nd £1 coin this month today. Such a small thing but makes me really happy.

Home made burgers for tea using a £1.90 pack of mince. We can get 4 good sized quarter pounders out of that instead of being seduced by the ready made ones for double the price.

Little one had her last lot of imms today so her dad took her. For some reason I have to be the one to take her to her BCG though according to the nurse. Any ideas why? I don't see why her male parent can't do it. Anyway we have till she is 1 for that so ages yet.

Making good use of Netflix at the moment. Bates motel is our current watch but Better Call Saul 2 starts today so can't wait to get on to that. Best £6 we spend all month.

    Love to all

    Bob

Thanks for starting us off today Ziggy, hope your son is feeling a little brighter & you got some rest!

Today's been a bit dull for me, BUT I stuck to my packed lunch and packed breakfast (porridge with dried fruit & nuts, lunch of Tom soup with bread and fruits) also had coffee from my pot of coffee I carry in every day too so a No Spend Day for me....I've not spent any actual cash in 9 days.

Printed off Hermes labels for eBay sales last night, and woke up this morning to £10 of bids on five of my nine items listed last night.

Did free postcode lottery and a survey from pinecone I received.

Payday for me so moved money into savings, bills account as well.

More importantly called the mortgage broker and have sorted the majority of paperwork to get our application in! Eeeeeeeek scary :-)

Going to help the in-laws with some training they need to do (on my work laptop!) as the gf is off away with work until tomorrow night and get an early night I think!

Hope everyone's had good days today!

Hope everyone has had a good day. Apologies for my late post.

    Today my list has been:
NSD (getting used to this now)
Washing is drying on the airer :)
    Checked online banking and savings.
Worked all day so that helped the NSD.
Flat hunting as I need to move due to marriage breakdown. Difficult but for the absolute best.

Have a nice evening everyone. :)

    Pace.
    Money scares me.

    Honesty update will arrive shortly......:o

  • Evening

Ziggy Thank you for starting us off today.

I still have to read yesterdays & today's threads, big hugs to all who need them.

Today I have been out for most of it going about our usual HE adventure. The children had sports training followed by a HE social meet up, both groups were slightly depleted in numbers probably due to it being half term in our area. This evening me & the OH have been trying to get ready for tomorrow when we are hosting a belated birthday party for ds. Chocolate birthday currently baking, vegan chocolate oatmeal squares, ready to go into the oven, just the vegan Victoria sponge to do, probably first thing.

:AZiggy Thank you for thinking of me, your a star :A

    Today I have/will:
    Write shopping list
Go shopping and stick to list
Post on this thread for support, motivation and inspiration
    Open curtains fully
Close curtains before it gets dark
Turn off lights and appliances not in use
    reusable sanitary ware
    Stick to meal plan
    B/L/D from stores
    make bread
    Check and reconcile bank accounts
    PAD into saving £3.66 -1p
    Soak porridge overnight
    Set DW to run overnight
    Unpack bags
    Pack snacks
    Check FPL
HWB for children’s beds instead of heating
    Do not wash hair
    Dry washing on airier
Keep heating to a minimum, we have jumpers and blankets

I'm not setting the WM tonight as I have caught up with the washing :j
Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent
79.5 coupons rolled over 4/75.5 coupons spent - using for secondhand purchases
