Buying/Importing items from the US

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to find a way to save money by importing clothes from the US. My favourite brands are dirt cheap in the US and it pains me that I'd have to pay silly money for them over here!

I currently use a VPN to browse my favourite stores as they can't be accessed from the UK and I've found a few services which allow you to have your own US address (at a warehouse) to have goods delivered to the UK.

I'm interested to know if anyone is currently doing this and how much of a saving (if any) you are making? I understand there are numerous charges (customs etc...) along the way, but I'm hoping it is in fact possible and worthwhile.

Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated!

The US merchant won't ship direct to the UK, but will ship to an address in the US (the warehouse address), which then forwards to the UK.
