Many years ago I sat outside the BMW showroom lusting after an R90S. Never did buy one sadly.
I don't know whether the purpose of the loan makes a lot of difference though if push came to shove you can sell a second hand BMW a lot easier than a second hand kitchen!
Good luck with the 3.3% loan.
Without turning this into a bike thread and upsetting the forum gods... Have you seen the new style for the old R90?
I cant post links as I'm new here.
Google " BMW R nine T 2016"
Clever little play on words they are marketing it under now, a very good looking bike too!
I have no issues on a 2nd hand bike over a brand new one, especially if there are savings to be made.
Anyone else know the difference and implications of the loans purpose?
Debt consolidation, home improvement, car loan etc?0 -
You apply for the reason you want the loan otherwise it's fraud.0

Acht turn it into a bike thread.
I'm just too tight to get dripped up for vehicles.
So instead of going for a newer Blackbird, I went with a 1996 that had been owned by a couple of enthusiasts and was in great nick, with sensible/nice mods.
So certainly consider used with a really good story behind it.
As far as the loan goes, the only benefit of a home improvement loan (with my bank) would be to be able to pay it over a longer period than other reasons for a loan. the apr is the same.0 -
No need but thanks for the thought! I had many BMW bikes for work (white ones with stripes etc) and now have an R1100S.Nick123321 wrote: »Without turning this into a bike thread and upsetting the forum gods... Have you seen the new style for the old R90?

Go buy yours.0 -
You apply for the reason you want the loan otherwise it's fraud.
Presumably they don't ask for the purpose of the loan for the sole purpose of catching you for fraud.
I cant seem to find any difference between the options. Seems a strange thing to ask if there is no benefit or consequence.
Perhaps a better question would be, "Is the loan intended to be used for illegal purposes?"
My guess is that's the only reason they ask.
I'll let you guys know if I get the 3.3% which is advertised!0 -
Just got a loan for a car 3.4% from the bank, have you asked your bank?0

Might be a stupid question, but have you tried a different bike dealer, they might use a different finance firm and possibly a cheaper rate.
I read some where, can't remember where that sainsbury's offer the best rates at the minute, or they did when I seen the advert.0 -
Hi Nick
As a proud owner of the exact bike want, you need to get it by any means necessary!
I have no idea on how is best financially. Sorry!
Do you use it for commuting?
If not, you should definitely look at the S1000R, its far more sporty but still has that a comfortable enough upright position. I've had both. They are the best 2 bikes I have owned/ridden.
Post a pic when you get it!

Is there anyone like Drive the Deal or Carwow for bikes, or are they too small in volume to be worth it?0
